Looks like we should’ve held off on the Rupert Brooke letter auction post, in favor of more dramatic bidding news.

The glasses that James Joyce wore as he wrote Ulysses sold at a Dublin auction yesterday for more than $19,000, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Also on the block: a letter from Joyce to the same friend who gave him the glasses (for almost $16,000) and a copy of William Butler Yeats’s poem "The Wanderings of Oisin" that the author signed (for $54,000).

Read more about the eyeglasses and other memorabilia on the Times’s website.
