Romance readers and writers are, sadly, all too aware of the negative stereotypes associated with the genre.

And Katie Mingle shared those misconceptions, which made her mother’s decision to publish romance novels all that much more awkward for her.

Pamela Mingle’s work, though, ultimately opened up her daughter’s eyes: Yes, Katie read her mom's books, and no, she didn’t skip the steamy scenes.

That said, Katie does offer a caveat about those parts in a joint mother-daughter interview with Weekend Edition’s Lulu Garcia-Navarro.
