Congratulations to Jo Lloyd, whose short story “The Invisible” has won the BBC National Short Story Award.

Lloyd will receive £15,000 (about $18,400) for her tale about an actual historical woman who claimed to be friends with an invisible family.

It isn't the Welsh writer's first major honor; her work has previously appeared in The Best British Short Stories 2012 and The O. Henry Prize Stories 2018, according to the BBC.

You can read “The Invisible” in the Guardian.

Beautifully written. Love the use of language. Very interesting take on haves and have nots and the role and power of fantasy in everyday life...
