The publisher of a woman who recently admitted she pretended to be Black will donate proceeds from her latest book.

Jessica Krug admitted this month that, though she is white, she had “assumed identities” of various Black cultures.

Krug previously taught at George Washington University but resigned after the backlash to her confession.

Now, Duke University Press, which published Krug’s Fugitive Modernities in December 2018, is taking action as well as condemning the deception.

Editorial director Gisela Fosado said that while the book didn’t bring in a profit, the press was “committed to moving all proceeds from the book to a fund that will support the work of black and Latinx scholars,” reports the Guardian.

Fugitive Modernities was shortlisted for Harriet Tubman and the Frederick Douglass book prizes.
