The creativity that fuels your writing can be a great benefit for all the marketing and non-writing aspects of your career.

However, your love of words can actually be a drawback in some spots, says website designer (and author) Pauline Wiles.

In particular, she’s referring to your author website and how it very likely is too wordy.

Wiles cites a study that found website visitors spend only 5.59 seconds reading a webpage’s written content.

So that means design and images must be your priority, even though that may not be your creative strength.

To that end, Wiles lists five key ways to streamline your website in a guest post on the Nonfiction Authors Association blog.
