New book comes directly from Jane Austen's kitchen

Grouchy this morning? Here’s a collection of words to cheer you up: Jane Austen’s grilled cheese recipe.

The Guardian reports that Bodleian Library Publishing is publishing a “household book” written by Austen’s close friend Martha Lloyd, who lived with Austen, her sister, and their mother from 1798 to 1830.

Martha Lloyd’s Household Book contains both recipes (like Austen’s favorite, toasted cheese sandwiches, and the same white soup mentioned in Pride and Prejudice) and medical remedies.

The book comes out in June in England and August in the United States.
