Take a trip around the world, from the comfort of your home, with stories about unusual libraries.

Still in the conceptual phase is the Songdo Library in South Korea.

The architecture studio designing it has conceived of it as an artificial brain.

Literary Hub reports that the building will be shaped like a labyrinth, to represent the brain’s cortex, and have trees functioning like neurons in how they’re connective points throughout.

Enjoy concept drawings of the Songdo Library and read more about it at Lit Hub.

And somehow we hadn’t already shared the DIY library in Ankara, Turkey.

A vacant brick factory in the Cankaya district now houses thousands of books saved from the trash by garbage collectors.

Check out this story from 2019 about Ankara’s rescue library.
