There’s no denying the mark that William Shakespeare has left on Western civilization.
And sometimes, in fact, it’s embraced — such as by various heirs to the British throne — reports the Guardian.
A new digital exhibition called "Making History: Shakespeare and the Royal Family" points out several instances in which a prince of Wales defended his behavior by comparing himself to the Bard’s Prince Hal.
The Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded project identifies several other connections between Shakespearean characters and royals that they — or their embarrassed relatives — made throughout the centuries.
