The anticipation of an event like a vacation, wedding, or (ahem) book launch can be incredible.

And the event itself is (hopefully) worth the buildup and wait.

But what about the aftermath? 

Author Rachel Michelberg was taken aback by how she felt after her memoir, Crash, launched – launched successfully, even.

When a review popped up, she’d be elated; when she didn’t hear anything for a few days, she’d be crushed.

Michelberg has since come to realize that the emotional ups-and-downs are normal — and she’s shared her advice on handling post book launch depression on Jane Friedman’s blog.
