Today is the birthday of two late greats: novelist William Faulkner (September 25, 1897) and poet Shel Silverstein (September 25, 1930).

In honor of the occasion, we present two edifying posts from Literary Hub.

Re: Faulkner, the site has shared everything we know about the various screenplays that the The Sound and the Fury and As I Lay Dying author wrote but never produced.

And as for Silverstein, it informs us that he wrote the song “A Boy Named Sue,” recorded and popularized by Johnny Cash.

You can actually watch the A Light in the Attic and The Giving Tree writer perform “A Boy Named Sue” on The Johnny Cash Show.
