Yesterday brought the publication of two books discussing major (negative) global events.

Dr. Farzon Nahvi wrote Code Gray: Death, Life, and Uncertainty in the ER, which does of course touch on the confused-and-terrifying early months of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But, says NPR's Dave Davies, much of the book addresses the pre-COVID times and how the pandemic magnified problems Nahvi already saw in the health-care system.

You can read a transcript of Nahvi's interview on Fresh Air or listen to it on NPR's website.

And also out, with an NPR interview to promote it: The Great Displacement: Climate Change and the Next American Migration by Jake Bittle.

In his conversation with All Things Considered's Ari Shapiro, Bittle explains that while many people in the US are moving — maybe just a few miles, maybe more — because of catastrophic weather events, there isn't much coverage of it.

You can listen to Bittle share a big-picture view of those struggles on NPR's website or read a transcription of his interview about The Great Displacement.
