Unsurprisingly, the belongings of author Larry McMurtry — who died in March 2021 — are headed to auction, reports Literary Hub.

Items up for bid on May 29 include the typewriters McMurtry thanked in an award acceptance speech, signed copies of his books (some including autographs from other celebrities, too), an antique pistol, animal skulls and more.

What's not up for sale, but evidently was at some point, is his bookstore.

McMurtry had bequeathed Booked Up, in Archer City, Texas, to the store's longtime manager.

But CNN learned that in November 2022, the buildings were transferred to an investment company that listed home-renovation star Chip Gaines as its director.

The store's manager didn't return CNN's calls but has since opened an online bookstore also called Booked Up and confirmed that she doesn't have the buildings or the inventory.

Among McMurtry's nearly fifty books were the Pulitzer-Prize winning Lonesome Dove and Terms of Endearment, the movie adaptation of which won an Oscar.

He also shared an Oscar for best adapted screenplay for his work on Brokeback Mountain.
