Late last year, we shared news that squatters were refusing to vacate the late author Evelyn Waugh's British country manor, despite its sale.

We're here to report that ... nothing has changed.

The Daily Mail says that Helen Lawton and Bechara Madi refuse to answer the door, in case someone is coming to serve eviction papers.

Neighbors haven't seen Lawton outside the house in some time, though contractors (whether hers or the new owners' was unclear in the article) are maintaining the grounds.

Madi did return the Mail's phone call to explain that he and Lawton are "in the middle of a legal battle and are unable to make any comments as this could prejudice our position."

Learn more about the bizarre back story of the Waugh manor squatters in the Daily Mail.
