The publishing experts we follow have plenty of advice to offer, spanning a variety of topics.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • The power of why: Kathleen McCleary shares a few memorable college application essays that became epic once the students dug into the "why" of their topic and reminds you that your own stories can move deeper, in addition to moving forward (Writer Unboxed).

  • If, just, maybe: Jillian Forsberg advises you to stop focusing on ifs, justs, and maybes, and to instead address the actions that are in your control to achieve whatever follows these dream words (Writer Unboxed).

  • Budget-friendly ways to add audio to ebooks: Matty Dalrymple interviews Michael Pietrobon, founder of Canadian book design and self-publishing company Foglio, about affordable and accessible ways to DIY an audio version of your print book (Alliance of Independent Authors).

  • Help for Boundless Books authors?: Dan Holloway reports on the speculation that Will Atkinson, formerly of Atlantic Books, has set up a venture to help the authors who are losing royalties in the closure of Boundless Books (formerly Unbound) (Alliance of Independent Authors).
