As we all know, it's a cruel world out there for fictional characters — authors have to throw many an obstacle in their way, including physical injuries.

Samantha Keel, a paramedic who's also a medical consultant for writers at the blog ScriptMedic (and an author on her own), talked to Joanna Penn recently about how those of us without medical degrees can accurately depict the injury and recovery process.
