The founder and CEO of Smashwords has an idea on how indie authors can reach more readers: create more readers.

Granted, mentoring young readers and writers won’t have the immediate or direct payoff that authors seek from their marketing techniques, but Mark Coker argues it’s necessary.

As more and more books hit the figurative and literal shelves, he says, overall book consumption has remained flat.
