Peter Mountford couldn’t believe what a basic question his writing instructor was asking: “What is the point of view in this piece?”

Yet as his classmates struggled to identify which type of third-person Mountford had written in, it became apparently why his professor had posed the question — and why he’d been racking up rejection letters.
