Poet Paul Valery once said, “A poem's never finished, only abandoned.”

But how do you know when to abandon your work? (By which we mean, when do you stop editing and send it out into the world?)

Ali Luke, a writer and editor, doesn’t want to understate the importance of editing — but it should, eventually, wrap up.

Luke has identified five signs that you’re overediting, which she shared on her blog along with links to other editing-advice posts that you may find helpful.
