Kristine Kathryn Rusch is always insightful and inspiring (and, yes, a bit intimidating in the challenges she issues).

This most recent business musings post, though, takes the cake … no pun intended.

In it, she argues that authors are better served by recasting “launch day” as “birth day.”

Don’t cringe. She isn’t saying that your book is your baby, as in, a precious helpless thing to coddle and fret over.

It’s your baby in that once it emerges, it’s your job to send it into the world not just for an intense first month, but for a long life that will see ups and downs.

Trust us — head over and read her post, and however you mark the release of your book, consider her advice on its long game.
