Authors are advised to make sure that their book covers conform to genre expectations.

And when a friend told Lynne Cantwell that her cover was no good, that’s what he meant — that it didn’t match the image of an urban fantasy.

So she set out to analyze what exactly she needed to add to make her book less women’s fiction and more urban fantasy.

Cantwell shares the steps she took in a blog post at Indies Unlimited, in case you need to do the same with any of your works.
