An expert on direct mail told Nate Hoffelder that any successful newsletter needs to train users to take three steps.

For an author, that means readers must open the newsletter, click the links, and buy a book — easy to understand, not quite as simple to accomplish.

But Hoffelder does have strategies and suggestions for making each of these happen, and he’s shared them in the latest installment of his author newsletter series at The Book Designer.
