Language matters — you know that, as an author.

And so does C.S. Lakin, as an editor, book coach, and author herself.

So she wants to specify the difference between voice, style, and tone, especially as deep point-of-view has become popular in fiction.

Voice is the character's way of speaking and perceiving; style is what might be described as the author's voice.

And when you have more than one point-of-view character, those voices must be different (unless, as Lakin concedes, your novel is about an army of clones).
