Two recent craft posts centered on the fact that authors do, consciously or not, draw from their own lived experiences in their literature.

In the case of author Heather Lanier, that's something she had to come to terms with — but now embraces.

She describes her experience with running away from and then returning to herself in her writing in a guest post for Jane Friedman.

Writer Morgan Christie's commentary on the topic is more technical than theoretical.

She explains how she mined her memories for her fiction in a post at Women Writers, Women's Books.
