The publishing experts we follow have plenty of business and marketing advice and news to offer.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • Consider these questions and factors when trying to define the target audience for your nonfiction book or memoir (Jane Friedman).

  • Wine writer Natalie Maclean has quite a bit of craft advice to share, but she also walked Joanna Penn through how she handled an online "maelstrom" and the lessons she took from it (The Creative Penn).

  • Victoria Strauss reminds all authors of how to recognize a troll or scammer impersonating her (Writer Beware).

  • Author Rachel Stone shares her takeaways and best-practice tips from doing two different book blog tours (Women Writers, Women's Books).

  • Member authors share their experiences in knowing when to pivot on a project — or quit (Alliance of Independent Authors).

A literary agent told me my novel was "Male Fiction," yet I've not seen any sign of this genre existing by any means. Women read for enjoyment far more than men. So it makes sense why there are so many more female authors and agents and the "Women's Fiction" genre. Is "Men's Fiction" a missed opportunity or a hopeless cause for a guy writing "men's fiction.." BYW, my readers have categorized my blended grenre novel as mystery romance and small town romance.
