The publishing experts we follow have plenty of craft advice to offer.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • Character secret thesaurus — addiction: Becca Puglisi encourages you to expand your view of what someone could be addicted to and explains how to use that addiction to provide plot tension (Writers Helping Writers).

  • On writing and research: John Sayles shares his process for how to do and use research in writing both books and screenplays (Writer's Digest).

  • Show, don't tell — but how?: C.S. Lakin shares an excerpt from her book Shoot Your Novel, which teaches fiction writers how to use cinematic techniques in their stories (Live Write Thrive).
