The publishing experts we follow have plenty of craft and creative process advice to offer.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • Acknowledge your influences: Kathryn Craft makes the case for giving public credit to the forces — whether they be your fellow writers or something or someone else — that have built your individual storytelling voice (Writer Unboxed).

  • The glorious task of ending a series: Patricia Leavy describes what she believes readers, both in general and hers in particular, want and need from the conclusion to a series of books (Writer's Digest).

  • How to show your character's repressed emotions: Angela Ackerman suggests ways to handle the tricky balance of tipping your readers off to what characters really feel or think, even as they try to disguise that information (Writers Helping Writers).
