The Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore in Buenos Aires, Argentina, doesn’t have a huge English-language section — but that shouldn’t stop you from visiting it.

You see, National Geographic is the latest entity to declare it the world’s most beautiful bookstore.

The building was originally a theater, which opened in 1919 during Buenos Aires’s boom times, and became a bookstore in 2001.

Even better: Buenos Aires is one of the most bookstore-dense cities in the world, with more than 700 shops for bookworms to browse, according to National Geographic.

You can see photos of the Ateneo Grand Splendid and other exquisite bookstores from around the world on National Geographic’s website.

Additionally, NPR — which alerted us to the Ateneo's latest honor — has reposted the story it did when the theater was first converted.
