Ta-Nehisi Coates has gained quite the literary reputation for his nonfiction; this year, he’ll be adding fiction to his laundry list of accomplishments.
The New York Times shared the cover for The Water Dancer, set to be released in September. Its central character is Hiram Walker, an enslaved man whose life changes after he nearly drowns.
Coates won a National Book Award for his bestseller Between the World and Me and received several award nominations for his more recent book, We Were Eight Years in Power.
You can read more about his upcoming novel and of course see its artwork on the Times’s website.
