If you had to guess, who would you say was the first woman to publish a science-fiction story under her own name?
We’ll give you a quick hint: The story was titled "A Runaway World."
One more clue: It ran in Weird Tale Magazine in 1926.
Those of you who said Clare Winger Harris were correct ... but based on Literary Hub’s profile of Harris, we’re going to make a guess of our own.
And that guess is that very few of you knew the answer, let alone knew who Harris was.
(We’re not judging — we don’t recognize her name, even though she was born in the next county over from where we grew up, in an area that isn’t so population-dense that we can be picky about our hometown heroes!)
