An unfinished sequel to A Clockwork Orange has been found among author Anthony Burgess’s papers.

The Clockwork Condition was written in 1972 and 1973, according to the Guardian, after the film adaptation of A Clockwork Orange had been withdrawn for supposedly inspiring copycat crimes.

Burgess did mention a sequel in a 1975 interview but underplayed its progress; in reality, his draft is a two-hundred-page mixture of typewritten copy, notes, and outlines.

After his 1993 death, his archives found their way to the Burgess Foundation, whose director made this most recent discovery.
