’Tis the season for pranks, sure, but Coeur d'Alene Public Library staff aren’t too amused with the party or parties responsible for hiding its books.

Librarians there are frequently finding books that promote LGBTQ rights and women’s right to vote — and that criticize Donald Trump — either wrongly reshelved or flat-out hidden.

They told the Coeur d'Alene Press that this occurs anywhere from five times a week to ten times a month, and it’s been going on for a while.

Back in August 2018, the library received a comment card stating that the culprit was doing this intentionally to “keep this propaganda out of the hands of young minds.”

As a result, the library has had to spend not only staff time searching for the books, but also money replacing them.
