HBO says no thanks to Game of Thones prequel

HBO won’t develop a Game of Thrones prequel series after all.

The prequel was among several Game of Thrones-related projects in development at HBO, according to Variety.

Now that HBO has passed on the prequel series — for which a pilot episode was filmed — none of these projects are believed to be moving forward.

The prequel series would’ve taken place thousands of years before George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire books are set.

Deadline first reported that the cast (including Naomi Watts) and crew of the prequel’s pilot learned that HBO wasn’t picking up the rest of the series.

HBO declined to comment to Variety.
