George R.R. Martin is throwing a bone to his impatient fans and halting his script-writing efforts.

The author of the A Song of Ice and Fire series posted on his website that until he finishes the sixth book, The Winds of Winter, he’ll stay away from an HBO spinoff prequel series.

This spinoff prequel, called House of the Dragon, is not the one that HBO recently declined to produce, though Martin did address the latter situation.

“It goes without saying that I was saddened to hear the show would not be going to series,” Martin said. “… I do not know why HBO decided not to go to series on this one, but I do not think it had to do with House of the Dragon.”
