Listeners of the podcast Stuff You Missed in History Class are well acquainted with the Voynich manuscript — or, rather, the mystery surrounding it.

The Atlantic certainly doesn’t have news that it was finally cracked, but it does have one revelation about it: it’s “pure poison” for a scholarly career.

That said, it’s been a boon for code breakers, if only because they can practice on it without revealing any sensitive secrets.
