Boy, we sure hope Andy Serkis has a solid supply of tea and honey nearby.

The actor famous for playing Gollum in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies read The Hobbit in one marathon session Friday.

The livestreamed event, which took twelve hours, raised money for two organizations: NHS Charities Together, which is the fundraising arm of the UK’s National Health Service, and Best Beginnings, which provides support to pregnant women and families with young children.

As of 8:30 a.m. Central today, the project has raised £292,860 of its £350,000 goal ($360,960 of its $431,388 goal).
