If you heard that Audible was “moving to an enhanced ebook format,” there’s no need to panic.

The Digital Reader reached out to Audible and confirmed that while yes, an older audiobook format is being retired, that doesn’t mean anything dire for owners of those formats.

Part of an email that affected users received confirms this:

Your Audible titles are yours to keep and will be available for you to re-download in the new, higher-quality audio format. If you prefer to listen to your Audible titles in format 4 audio, you will want to download them all to your device before we make the switch on 6/30/2020.

You can read the email in full, if you didn’t receive it and think you’re affected, at The Digital Reader.
