Whether you were among those eagerly anticipating the book or those criticizing its author, you weren’t surprised to learn that John Bolton’s tell-all memoir has rocketed up the sales charts.

But it’s not flying off every shelf — and in fact, it’s not even on some shelves.

Publishers Weekly polled about thirty indie bookstores, and only a slight majority said they were stocking The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir.

Most of the remaining ones were doing special orders only, while three would not sell the book, period.

Why not? Several of the objectors said they were unhappy that the former national security adviser is profiting off of information he shared in the book rather than during Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.
