Netflix released the trailer for its adaptation of Hillbilly Elegy today.
Ron Howard is directing the screen version of J.D. Vance’s bestselling memoir, which will have a short theatrical run in November before becoming available for streaming November 24.
Cast members of note include Amy Adams as Vance’s mother and Glenn Close as his grandmother.
Hillbilly Elegy is both the story of Vance’s family and others like it, trying — and often failing — to capture a safe, comfortable, middle-class life.
You can watch the film trailer below or on Deadline, which also has more details about the cast and production team.
Also from Deadline: movie rights to Bryan Washington’s unreleased novel, Memorial, have already been sold.
A24 will work with Washington to adapt the novel — which comes out October 27 — for its TV division.
Washington published a highly celebrated collection of short stories, Lot, last year and has been named a 5 Under 35 by the National Book Foundation, in addition to receiving other accolades.
