Joy Harjo has become only the second person to serve a third term as US poet laureate.
Harjo, also the first Native American to have that role, begins her third term in September 2021.
In announcing her reappointment, the Library of Congress also revealed that Harjo’s signature project has launched.
“Living Nations, Living Words,” available online, features 47 contemporary Native poets whose works are accessible through a story map and through a more traditional audio collection.
