Congratulations to Barry Lopez, who has won the inaugural Writer in the World Prize.

Board members of the Sun Valley Writers’ Conference fund the prize, which is worth $20,000.

It honors a writer whose work expresses a “rare combination of literary talent and moral imagination, helping us to better understand the world and our place in it,” in the words of the SVWC.

Taylor’s books include Arctic Dreams, winner of the National Book Award, and Of Wolves and Men, a National Book Award finalist.

You can read more about him and his prize at Literary Hub.
