The Department of Justice has dropped a lawsuit against the author of a tell-all memoir about Melania Trump.
The Huffington Post reports that Stephanie Winston Wolkoff called the Monday decision a “vindication,” though most people would probably agree that the decision had far more to do with the presidential transition.
Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with The First Lady painted the former first lady in an unflattering light, and the Justice Department – under Donald Trump — had argued that it violated a nondisclosure agreement.
Under President Joe Biden, however, the DOJ decided that dismissing the suit was “in the best interests of the United States,” in line with what many legal experts had previously asserted.
