Hanif Abdurraqib’s latest book, A Little Devil In America: In Praise of Black Performance, came out on Tuesday.
In advance of its publication, he sat down for an interview with VICE magazine and granted permission for an excerpt to be published.
A Little Devil In America is a historical (and personal) survey of Black performance and performers in the US.
It’s the fifth book from Abdurraqib, who has previously published collections of poetry, an essay collection, and a biography of the rap group A Tribe Called Quest.
The interview with him comes after the excerpt of A Little Devil In America.
