You won’t be going to a bookstore to pick up novelist Salman Rushdie’s next work.

The author of Midnight’s Children and The Satanic Verses will release a novella through the online platform Substack.

In an interview with the Guardian, Rushdie said he plans to release the 35,000-word The Seventh Wave in weekly installments over the course of the year.

He also expects to offer a mix of paid and free content, making it up as he goes along.

Read more about why Rushdie decided to try Substack, despite a deep-seated love of traditional print, in the Guardian.

And you can check out his Substack, called Salman's Sea of Stories, even without signing up.
