Landing on TIME magazine’s most influential people list is — mostly — a huge honor.
(Certainly there are list members who could just as easily be called infamous as famous.)
So for Cathy Park Hong to not only be included, but also to grace the issue’s cover, is remarkable.
Hong is a poet — a female Asian-American one, at that.
The author of Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning, which won the 2020 National Book Critics Circle Award for an autobiography, expressed her astonishment over the inclusion on Twitter.
Poets, especially Asian American female poets, don't dream about being on the Time 100 List. But it happened and I'm on the cover. https://t.co/eCzj3jEl2a

Other writers on the list, sometimes for reasons other than their writing, are N.K. Jemisin, Stacey Abrams, Jessica B. Harris, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Dolly Parton, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
