The MacArthur Foundation revealed its 2021 fellowship recipients yesterday, and several wordsmiths were among them.
Recipients of the twenty-five “genius grants” (worth $625,000 each) included:

Hanif Abdurraqib, a music critic, essayist, and poet.

Daniel Alarcón, an author and radio producer.

Reginald Dwayne Betts, a poet and lawyer.

Don Mee Choi, poet and translator.

Ibram X. Kendi, an American historian and author.

Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, a historian and writer.
Cecilia Conrad, managing director of the MacArthur Fellows, said this year's group “helps us reimagine what’s possible,” according to the Guardian, which shared the reactions of some of the recipients..
