Wish you could read The Grapes of Wrath exactly as John Steinbeck wrote it?
You only have another day to wait, before SP Books releases its printed replica of Steinbeck’s original draft.
The Guardian notes that among the highlights for bookworms may be the number of times a certain four-letter word — which isn’t in the final version — appears.
A Steinbeck scholar told the paper that seeing Steinbeck’s handwriting doesn’t just make readers feel closer to an author’s inspiration; it also illustrates the enormity of the work that his first wife put into the project, as his typist.
You can see some of the original pages from The Grapes of Wrath in the Guardian’s article now, or purchase your copy of the facsimile for delivery October 7.
