On this day almost sixty years ago, Sylvia Plath wrote her well-known poem “Daddy.”
While it wasn’t published until after Plath’s death, she did receive some media attention around it, reports Literary Hub.
In fact, a recording of her October 30, 1962, BBC Radio interview — in which Plath read “Daddy” and other poems — has survived to this day and is embedded below for your listening pleasure.
One more fun fact, which Lit Hub previously noted: Hole’s Courtney Love read “Daddy” during her audition for The Mickey Mouse Club in 1977.
