Whenever Literary Hub’s Emily Temple is browsing old books, she likes to grab early editions of famous authors’ work to see how they were promoted.

Some of the bios seem to anticipate the author’s future importance, sure, but others are minimal to nearly nonexistent.

So for fun, Temple has collected the early author bios of thirty now-acclaimed writers and redacted their names (along with those of their spouses and books) and built a quiz out of them.

Head to Lit Hub to see whether you can recognize these thirty writers based on their early author bios.
