On this day in 1835, author Mark Twain was born; on this day in 1976, actor Chadwick Boseman was born.

Neither man is still with us, of course, but Literary Hub has several posts in their honor.

Since you may be wondering how Boseman relates to literature, we’ll start with him and share the video of him reading the first chapter of Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass.

As for Lit Hub’s Twain tributes, one is expected; the other, not so much.

One post gathers original reviews of Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and suffice it to say not every critic was a fan.

The other shares the story of Twain’s lesser-known patent: for the clasp now common on bras. (That wasn’t why he designed it.)
