Remember the biggest sales that AbeBooks made this year?

Here’s another price to make your eyes bulge, albeit from a different seller.

Director Alejandro Jodorowsky dreamed — and dreamed big — of adapting Frank Herbert’s Dune into a movie in the 1970s.

The film was never realized, but a huge book (nicknamed the Dune bible) detailing Jodorowsky’s vision for the movie did come into existence.

One of those copies was sold at auction last month for €2,660,000 (over $3 million).

Nerdbot provides the back story of the doomed Dune adaptation, the Dune bible, and its lucrative sale.
